Nigeria's First Lady Launches Renewed Hope Initiative

In a remarkable move to empower women across Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady and chair of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), has launched the Economic Empowerment Programme. This initiative aims to uplift 37,000 women petty traders by providing them with a N50,000 business recapitalization grant.

The program kicked off in Asaba, the capital of Delta State, where 1,000 petty traders were the first beneficiaries. The grant is designed to help these women overcome business challenges, create more jobs, and contribute to the informal sector’s growth in the national economy.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that empowering women economically is not only a moral duty but also a strategic imperative. When women thrive, their families and communities prosper. These 37,000 women, who form the backbone of local economies, have shown incredible resilience in building their businesses. Today, we celebrate their hard work and determination.

Delta State Governor Sherriff Oborevwori, represented by his wife, Tobore Oborevwori, applauded the First Lady’s intervention. In addition to the N50,000 grant, the state administration pledged an additional N50,000 grant to further empower the beneficiaries. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to uplifting women and fostering economic growth.

The Renewed Hope Initiative’s Economic Empowerment Programme is a beacon of hope for thousands of women in Nigeria. By investing in their businesses, we invest in the future of our nation. Let us celebrate the courage, resilience, and unwavering spirit of these unsung heroes who continue to put food on their families’ tables and drive local economies forward.
