In a recent development, popular Nigerian singer and rapper, Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, has been summoned by a Federal High Court in Lagos. The court issued a production warrant for the artist on Friday, October 5.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revealed that the warrant was issued by Justice Nicholas Oweibo. The singer is facing prosecution on 11-count charges related to conspiracy and credit card fraud.
Naira Marley was summoned amid allegations linking him to the demise of his former signee Mohbad. The Marlian Music label boss is currently in police custody after allegations were leveled against him for killing Mohbad.
Naira Marley’s lawyer, Olalekan Ojo, informed the court that the defendant was unavoidably absent from court due to his detention by the Police for interrogation in respect of Mohbad’s murder.
The singer has previously denied any involvement in Mohbad’s death. He took to Twitter to express his hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.
