Burna Boy, the Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, has expressed his opinion on President Bola Tinubu’s request for military intervention in Niger Republic, where a coup d’etat took place recently. President Tinubu wrote to the Senate seeking its approval for deploying troops to Niger, but the Senate rejected his proposal.
Burna Boy, who spoke in Pidgin English during an Instagram live session with his associate Mannny, advised President Tinubu to focus on solving the fuel crisis in Nigeria, which was caused by his sudden removal of subsidy.
He said: “Fuel no dey you wan go fight war. How you wan reach the battlefield? You go use… Wettin dem dey use that generator now do? Gas generator. E shock me. Wahala no dey ever tire Nigeria.”
Burna Boy’s comment has sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians on social media. Some praised him for speaking out against the government’s plan, while others criticized him for being disrespectful and ignorant of the regional implications of the Niger coup.
