Cardi B Responds to Criticism Over Maternity Shoot
Cardi B has defended her recent maternity photo shoot after facing backlash for posing in front of graffiti that included the word “pedophile”.
The photos, shared on her Instagram account, show the pregnant rapper sitting on a motorcycle wearing a vintage Alpinestars jacket.
Fans were quick to point out the inappropriate graffiti in the background, with some accusing Cardi of throwing shade at her rap rival Nicki Minaj, whose husband is a registered sex offender.
However, Cardi denied these claims, explaining that they had chosen a random street for the shoot to avoid paparazzi and had to edit the photos quickly after the shoot was leaked.
“First of all we literally picked a random street because paparazzi was hounding us everywhere.. this was supposed to be my original first picture and we had to edit the photos in minutes because the shoot got leaked,” Cardi wrote on X.
“Didn’t even have time to go over every detail because people were busy trying to expose my pregnancy as ‘aha’ moment…Second I’m ALWAYS with the shits but I’m not using MY MATERNITY shoot to be funny. Are you dumb??”
The 31-year-old singer also hit back at claims that her team should have noticed the graffiti, defending her makeup artist who touched up the photos due to the rushed timeline.
Cardi emphasized that she keeps telling fans to leave her alone and not to push her to respond.
The backlash comes as Cardi B announced her pregnancy with her third child, expecting with ex-husband Offset.
She has also recently filed for divorce from the Migos rapper for a third time.
