A former Big Brother Naija housemate and reality TV star Tacha, has slammed Headies Awards for hosting the event in the United States for the second year in a row.
She said that this decision shows a ‘slave mentality’ and does not make sense for an indigenous award that celebrates African music.
Tacha questioned why the biggest music award show in Africa was held abroad, when Nigerian artists and fans were the ones supporting and promoting it.

She also suggested that Nigerian news platforms and blogs should not report the Headies Awards, and that the organizers should pay foreign media outlets to do so, since they decided to take their event abroad. She urged them to do better and keep the prestigious award in Nigeria.
The 16th edition of the Headies Awards took place on Sunday at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The award ceremony was also held at the same venue last year
