Former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo made a dream start to his Al Wehda career as he scored a stunning goal in his first appearance for the club. The Nigerian international came off the bench in the 86th minute and found the net five minutes later with a superb finish from the edge of the box.
Ighalo, who joined Al Wehda from Al Hilal this summer, showed his class and composure as he received a pass from Faycal Fajr and curled the ball into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless. His goal sealed a comfortable 3-0 win for Al Wehda over Al Taee in the Saudi Arabian Pro League.
Al Wehda had taken the lead in the first half through Fajr, who converted a penalty after Saeed Al Muwallad was fouled in the area. Al Muwallad doubled the advantage in the 62nd minute with a powerful header from a corner.
Ighalo’s debut goal was the icing on the cake for Al Wehda, who moved up to third place in the table with six points from two games. The 34-year-old striker will hope to continue his scoring form when Al Wehda host Al Ittihad on Monday.
