TON Blockchain Resumes Operations After Temporary Outage

TON Blockchain Resumes Operations After Temporary OutageThe Open Network (TON) blockchain has successfully restored normal functionality following a brief disruption caused by an abnormal spike in transaction load. The incident led to a temporary loss of consensus among validators, prompting the TON team to take immediate action.

The disruption occurred on August 28, 2024, when the TON network experienced an unprecedented surge in transaction volume due to the listing of the DOGS token on several exchanges. This surge in activity coincided with the arrest of Telegram’s founder, Pavel Durov, in France, raising concerns about the platform’s moderation practices.

During the seven-hour outage, the TON Foundation worked diligently to address the issues and restore the network’s operations. Validators were urged to restart their systems to ensure consensus and restore normal functionality. Despite the interruption, the TON Foundation reassured users that all transactions would be processed, and no assets would be lost during the downtime.

Following the resolution of the network congestion and database cleaning issues, the TON blockchain resumed block production. Over 231 million blocks have been recorded since the network’s restoration, indicating a successful recovery. The TON team also confirmed that user asset security remained intact throughout the disruption.

The incident had a temporary impact on Toncoin’s price, which experienced a significant drop during the outage. Toncoin’s price hit a low of $5.11 before recovering slightly to $5.34. However, crypto analysts remain optimistic about Toncoin’s potential for a rebound, with some predicting a potential rally of over 23% to around $6.30.

Despite the challenges faced by the TON blockchain, the recent update signifies the resilience and commitment of the TON Foundation in maintaining a robust and secure network. The successful restoration of normal operations demonstrates their dedication to ensuring a smooth user experience.
