Federal Government hike Fees for Nigeria's International Passport

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a significant hike in the cost of obtaining the country’s international passport through the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

This was disclosed in a statement by the spokesman of the NIS, DCI Kenneth Udo, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Udo said the Federal Government approved the upward review as part of efforts to maintain the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport.

This move, aimed at maintaining the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport, will take effect from September 1, 2024.

New Fee Structure:

32-Page Passport Booklet (5-Year Validity):

  • ‌Previous Fee: ₦35,000
  • ‌New Fee: ₦50,000

64-Page Passport Booklet (10-Year Validity):

  • ‌Previous Fee: ₦70,000
  • ‌New Fee: ₦100,000

While prospective applicants within Nigeria may experience inconvenience due to the fee increase, the Nigeria Immigration Service assures citizens of unwavering commitment to transparency and quality service delivery.
