NLC, TUC begin nationwide strike midnight

The strike is in response to the battering of the NLC President and others in Owerri, Imo State on November 1, as well as pending labor issues in Imo State.

NLC, TUC begin nationwide strike midnightThe Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have declared a nationwide strike effective from midnight on November 14, 2023.

The decision was made following an extraordinary meeting of the National Executive Council.

The strike is in response to the battering of the NLC President and others in Owerri, Imo State on November 1, as well as pending labor issues in Imo State.

The NLC and TUC had previously resolved to declare a nationwide strike by Tuesday, November 14, if their demands were not met. The strike was suspended on October 2, 2023, after the NLC and TUC reached a compromise with the federal government.

The NLC and TUC are calling for the withdrawal of court summons issued against their leaders.
