LAGOS, NIGERIA – In a heartrending scene on the evening of October 11th, Nigerian music sensation, Wizkid, was spotted alongside his sisters at a candlelight procession held in honor of their late mother.
The Afrobeat superstar, born Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, has kept a low profile since the passing of his mother, Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun.
The procession was an emotionally charged event, with Wizkid appearing downcast and taking comfort on the shoulder of his sister.
The singer, who recently attended a private viewing of the “Gabrielle Chanel Fashion Manifesto” at the V&A in London, United Kingdom, was seen in an all-black outfit, reflecting the somber mood of the occasion.
The candlelight procession was held in Surulere, and videos from the event have sparked reactions online.
The late Mrs. Balogun passed away almost two months ago under undisclosed circumstances. Her burial is set to take place today, October 12th, at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The loss has undoubtedly been a challenging time for Wizkid and his family. However, they continue to honor their beloved matriarch’s memory with grace and unity. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.
