The Rise of Shallipopi

He rose to limelight after the release of “Elon Musk” in 2023, which peaked at No. 1 on Apple Music, Nigeria Top 100.

The Rise of Shallipopi Crown Uzama, professionally known as Shallipopi, is a Nigerian singer and rapper. He was born on April 12, 2000, in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria.

He rose to limelight after the release of “Elon Musk” in 2023, which peaked at No. 1 on Apple Music, Nigeria Top 100. Later that year, he released “Sharpiru”, a song that eventually went viral in Nigeria and all over the world.

Shallipopi started his career at a young age, making freestyles and posting them on TikTok and other social media platforms.

His breakthrough came with the release of his single “Elon Musk”. On June 20, 2023, Apple Music announced Shallipopi as the latest featured artist in its Up Next artist development program in Nigeria.

On June 30, he released the remix of the Elon Musk song featuring Fireboydml & Zlatan.

On July 7, 2023, he released the single “Ex-convict”, which debuted Number 1 and 6 on Apple Music Nigeria Top 100 & TurnTable charts respectively.

On July 11, 2023 his EP Planet Pluto peaked Number 1 on Top Albums on Apple Music Nigeria.

However, his journey has not been without controversy. On May 30, 2023, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested Shallipopi, his manager and others for alleged Internet-related fraud.

Shallipopi and his manager were convicted on June 23, 2023 and sentenced to two years imprisonment with the “option of fines”.
