A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, when a Dunamis Church building collapsed during a prayer session, killing the pastor and injuring four others.
The church building, located at Mission Ward North Bank, was reportedly hosting a few members for prayers when it suddenly caved in.
The pastor, whose name was not disclosed, was trapped under the rubble and died on the spot. The four survivors were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The cause of the collapse is still unknown, but some sources said that the building was old and poorly maintained. The collapse also affected some residential buildings and electricity infrastructure around the church.
The state government has ordered an investigation into the incident and promised to provide assistance to the victims and their families.
The Dunamis Church authorities have also expressed their condolences and prayed for the repose of the pastor’s soul.
