Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth, has publicly apologized to his colleague, AY Makun, and other comedians whom he may have offended over the years. The apology came after months of revealing the details of their 17-year-old feud that started over a N30,000 gig.

In a video shared via his social media accounts on Monday, Basketmouth apologized to “everyone in the industry and beyond that I have offended knowingly or unknowingly.” He also apologized to those who had accused him of actions that may have impacted their career. He refrained from accepting or denying any allegations made against him.

Basketmouth said he wanted to live in peace and harmony with his fellow comedians and hoped they would forgive him.

The beef between Basketmouth and AY dates back to 2006, when AY claimed that he stood in for Basketmouth at an event but didn’t get his payment. He also alleged that Basketmouth sabotaged his career by refusing to share the same stage with him or invite him to his shows.

Basketmouth, on the other hand, denied being friends with AY and said he only helped him out at the beginning of his career.

The feud has caused a rift in the Nigerian comedy industry, with some comedians taking sides or staying neutral. It is not clear if AY has accepted Basketmouth’s apology or if the two will reconcile anytime soon.
