Breaking: Gunmen Kidnap 25 Church Members in Ondo

Breaking: Gunmen Kidnap 25 Church Members in OndoA group of 25 church members from the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) were kidnapped by gunmen on Friday afternoon while travelling on the Ifon road in the Ose Local Council Area of Ondo State.

The victims were on their way to a burial programme when they were ambushed by the armed men who took them away.

The police spokesperson in Ondo, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident and said that the police anti-kidnapping squad and other tactical teams had been deployed to rescue the victims.

She said that the police were already on the trail of the kidnappers and hoped to secure the release of the church members soon.

A source who spoke to reporters said that the kidnappers had not contacted the church or the families of the victims yet.

The Ifon road is notorious for kidnapping incidents as several travellers have been abducted and killed by gunmen in the past.

The state government and security agencies have been urged to intensify efforts to curb the menace of kidnapping and banditry in the state.
