Coroner Inquest into Cause of MohBad’s Death Begins Friday

Coroner inquest into cause of MohBad’s death begins FridayThe coroner inquest into the cause of death of popular Afrobeats singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as MohBad, will begin on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Lagos State High Court. The Chief Coroner of the Lagos State Judiciary, Justice Mojisola Dada, had ordered the inquest on Monday, following the exhumation of the singer’s body for an autopsy.

MohBad died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, after being treated by an unlicensed nurse, who was later arrested by the police. The singer’s death sparked outrage and protests among his fans, who demanded justice and accused some members of the music industry of being involved in his demise.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had promised a thorough investigation into MohBad’s death and invited the secret police to assist in the case. He also urged anyone with information to come forward and appealed to the fans to refrain from making inflammatory statements.

The inquest will examine the autopsy report and other medical evidence to determine the cause and manner of MohBad’s death. The coroner has the power to make recommendations to prevent similar deaths in the future.

MohBad was one of the rising stars of Afrobeats music in Nigeria. He was known for his streetwise, sometimes lewd, relatable lyrics and his distinctive baritone voice. Mohbad was best known for his hit singles KPK (Ko Por Ke) and Ponmo, which featured musicians Lil Kesh and Naira Marley. He was married and had a five-month-old son.
