Katsina Celebrates at 36: Assembly Salutes Babangida for Creating State

The Speaker of the assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya, has congratulated the citizens and residents of Katsina State for witnessing its 36th anniversary.

The former military head of state of Nigeria, retired Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has been praised by the Katsina State House of Assembly for founding the state.

This was stated in a message of congratulations sent to the state’s citizens on Saturday in Katsina by the assembly’s chief press secretary, Aminu Magaji.

On September 23, 1987, the state was formed by Babangida’s military regime out of the previous Kaduna State.

The Speaker of the assembly, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya, has congratulated the citizens and residents of Katsina State for witnessing its 36th anniversary.

“On behalf of myself, the entire members and management of the assembly, I wish to heartily rejoice with the people of the state for commemorating the day.

“While saluting the foresight of former head of state for the creation of the state, I equally commend the sacrifice and commitments by its founding fathers.

“Especially military and civilian Governors for making it a role model among its contemporaries across the nation,” Mr Magaji quoted the speaker as adding”. He said.

Additionally, he recognized the state’s residents’ dedication to maintaining a state of peace and harmony among themselves, regardless of their affiliation with a particular tribe or religion.

While pushing them to keep up the pace, the speaker praised the continuous efforts being made by Governor Dikko Radda’s government to combat insecurity.

“On the giant strides being made by Radda in the fight against all forms of insecurity in the state, I am assuring our continued support to achieve the desired success,” he added.
