Arsenal have announced that their chief executive Vinai Venkatesham will step down from his role at the end of the 2023-24 season. Venkatesham, who has been with the club for 14 years, said he made the decision to pursue another challenge.
Venkatesham joined Arsenal as head of global partnerships in 2010 and became chief executive in 2020, overseeing the club’s operations and strategy. He was also involved in the controversial European Super League project, which collapsed after widespread backlash from fans and authorities.
Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke thanked Venkatesham for his contribution and long service, and said the board will work on a succession plan. He also reaffirmed the board’s commitment to the club’s strategy and vision.
Arsenal are currently ninth in the Premier League table, having won three and lost three of their opening six games. They are also back in the Champions League after a six-year absence, and will face PSV Eindhoven in their first group match on September 20.
