Lady Gaga, known for her powerful voice and dynamic performances, is taking on a new challenge in the highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 hit film, Joker, Titled Joker: Folie à Deux, the film sees Gaga stepping into the role of Harley Quinn, opposite Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck. This sequel is not just a continuation of the dark and gritty story but also introduces a musical element, making Gaga’s singing experience a focal point of interest.

At a recent press conference in Venice, Gaga revealed that she had to “unlearn” some of her singing techniques to fit the character of Harley Quinn. Unlike her polished performances in A Star Is Born, Gaga’s singing in Joker: Folie à Deux is raw and unrefined, reflecting the chaotic and unpredictable nature of her character. “I had to retrain my voice to sound less polished and more in line with Harley’s persona,” she explained.

One of the unique aspects of this film is that most of the singing was done live on set. Director Todd Phillips and Gaga believed that this approach would add authenticity to the performances. “Singing live in front of the camera was challenging but incredibly rewarding,” Gaga said. “It allowed me to fully immerse myself in Harley’s world and emotions”.

The film features a variety of musical numbers, ranging from classic hits to original compositions. These songs are not just background music but are integral to the storytelling, providing insight into the characters’ minds and emotions. Gaga’s ability to convey deep emotions through her voice adds a new layer to Harley Quinn, making her portrayal both compelling and unique.

Gaga also spoke about her on-screen chemistry with Joaquin Phoenix. The two actors share several musical scenes that are both intense and captivating. “Working with Joaquin was an incredible experience. His dedication to the character of Arthur Fleck is inspiring, and it pushed me to give my best performance,” she shared.

As fans eagerly await the release of Joker: Folie à Deux on October 4, 2024, Gaga’s insights into her singing experience have only heightened the anticipation. Her commitment to the role and willingness to adapt her singing style demonstrate her versatility as an artist. This sequel promises to be a unique blend of drama and music, offering a fresh take on the iconic characters of the Joker and Harley Quinn.
